What are the benefits of Reclaimed Teak?

First, reclaimed teak has had decades to dry and settle. This means any cracks, twists or warps that might happen soon after the tree is felled have happened years ago. So we know, if treated properly, this timber should retain its current shape.

Second, and maybe most obviously, it's significantly more sustainable than cutting down what's left of the old growth trees.

And finally, the physical characteristics of teak mean that a decades old piece of timber will retain all the durability and pest resistance of a new piece of timber. Meaning newly cut teak has no physical advantage over reclaimed teak.

Due to the handling and rework required, reclaimed teak is slightly more expensive than plantation teak but the end result is worth it.
